A native of the Dominican Republic Oscar de la Renta studied art first then ease into fashion design eventually apprenticing with Cristobal
Balenciagein Spain and Antonio Castillo at Lavin in Paris. Renta went to New York in 1963 to design the couture collection for Elizabeth Arden.
In 1965 he rolled out his own signature ready to wear label and in the Fall 2001 debuted Oscar de la Renta accessories-bags, belts, jewelry,
scarves and gloves. First American to design for the French Couture House Pierre Balmain. Mr. Renta is best known for using lots of colors
and his feminine luxurious evening wear designs. Celebrity clients include Beyonce, Sarah Jessica Parker, Laura Bush, Jacqueline Kennedy
Onassis, Barbara Walters and more.
